We asked Mokter Hossain, Niina Nurmi, Aino Tenhiälä and Yu Liu

1. Mokter Hossain - Assistant Professor, Management Engineering, Aalborg University, Denmark from January 1, 2017.

mokter_hossain.png He also got Marie Curie Individual Fellowship on open Innovation 2.0 topic with a very high score (96.2) in 2017

2. I graduated with DSc in 2016 from the Institute of Strategy and Venturing, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, Aalto University. Before embarking on doctoral studies, I achieved an MBA in International Business, MBA in Marketing as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management.

3. My dissertation topic was open innovation. I have published articles on open innovation, crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, grassroots innovation, frugal innovation, and business model innovation. Moreover, I am well familiar with some emerging phenomena, such as sharing economy, circular economy, living labs, and 3D printing.

Yu Liu - Professor of strategic entrepreneurship at Rotterdam School of Management (commence on 1st of August, 2017)

yu_liu.JPG2. I am currently a PhD Candidate working in Institute of Strategy and Venturing of DIEM. I started working at the department as a research assistant for Prof. Markku Maula in the area of cross-border venture capital six years ago. Prior to that, I graduated as M.Sc. (with distinction) majoring in Real Estate Investment & Finance from Aalto University in 2011. Before my studies in Finland, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Wuhan University in 2008 and a B.A. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology at the same year. It has been an amazing experience working with the great colleagues and the inspiring students of DIEM.

3. I am a strategy scholar with a particular interest in international and entrepreneurial strategy questions. My current empirical research focuses on cross-border venture capital, the investment behavior of venture capital firms going across national borders and investing in ventures located in other than the firm’s home country. By looking at how venture capital (VC) firms partner with local VC firms in foreign markets, my research strives to understand firm’s global strategy and important partnering decisions in international business. I’m also very interested in entrepreneurship in emerging

 

Aino Tenhiälä - Professor in Organizational Behavior/Human Resources at IE Business School (commence on the 1st of September 2017)

Aino.jpgI have had the great privilege to work first as a research assistant, then researcher, and finally Academy of Finland funded postdoctoral researcher at DIEM in the area of work psychology and leadership. I’m grateful for all the great colleagues, opportunities and learnings throughout the years.

3. My research at DIEM for the past ten years has focused on incentives and their impact on employee wellbeing and firm performance. More recently, I have been teaching a course called Entrepreneurial Leadership in Aalto Ventures Program. I’m passionate about interacting with entrepreneurs and students. I aspire to create inspiring, engaging and impactful learning environments. I believe that with the right kind of leadership and incentives, anything is possible.

 

 


Welcome back!

As the structure of the degree programme and the faculty of DIEM has changed over the 10-20 years, Head of Department Hannele Wallenius welcomed former DIEM students for an informal networking evening in AVP-spaces.
