Healthcare Engineering and Management

Healthcare Engineering and Management (HEMA) is a research group that concentrates on the production of health services and their development.

Since the group was established in 2004, our goal has been to produce practically relevant research and support the development of the health care sector by applying best practices and current research in industrial management to the field of health services. We currently employ 20 researchers (including two professors), whose backgrounds are mainly in Industrial Engineering and Management, Economics, and Architecture.

Key themes of our current research relate to service processes in health care, organizational change and service production systems spanning several organizations. In addition, we work with a wide network of research institutes inside our own university, nationally and internationally.

Affiliated professor: Paul Lillrank
