SPINN - SPeed In INNovation ecosystems project 2012-2014

SPINN is part of RAPID- Nopea kehittäminen innovaatiotoiminnassa program of Tekes and a strategic opening. The project does research on how to create, develop and manage a collaborative ecosystem that enables repis development and innovation for small and mid-sized companies.   

There are four research themes

  • Ecosystem-based product and service development
  • Possibilities of frugal innovation
  • Competences and learning
  • Sourcing for innovation

Purpose of SPINN project

  • To identify and describe actors (i.e. SMEs; microbusinesses;  existing and potential service providers) and their interactions within an innovative ecosystem
  • To map new and emerging methods and supporting technologies for fast collaboration and knowledge exchange, with specific focus on frugal innovation
  • To define competences and learning related to adopting new knowledge and applying it for commercial purposes at individual, organizational and ecosystem levels
  • To explore accelerated use of external resources (i.e. service providers, institutions) for fast development and execution of innovation
